Yenikapi, Istanbul
Yenikapi has played an integral part in the long and glorious past of Istanbul, but in many ways it is the forgotten quarter of the Historic Peninsula. Serving as a harbour, a siege garden and today a repository of infrastructure amenities, it is a crucial component of the city. With the discovery of compelling archaeological artifacts, and a need to create one of the globe’s most ambitious and progressive rail projects, Yenikapi has refocused the world’s attention and asserted itself as a place with a powerful identity.
Our vision paints a portrait of what Yenikapi might be like in 50 years time, but more importantly, it puts forward an approach which we believe are preconditions for creating high value. This value can be extracted from a coherent approach to the transfer hub, integrating it with a fantastic park to initiate this exciting new process.
