Westgate, Bridgnorth

Camlins was appointed to masterplan and design the external spaces for this residential development. The former council office and police station is a steeply sloping site close to the centre of Bridgnorth. 40 new dwellings are provided, 8 being social housing. The streetscape design incorporates extensive structural planting and over 80 specimen trees. The streets will be shared surface use with dutch clay paviors throughout. Planting is maximised to the front gardens, and hedges are used to define private boundaries. References have been taken to the surrounding residential context in the specification of materials, boundary definition and planting design. Existing mature trees on the site were incorporated into the masterplan and carefully coordinated with the arboricultural consultant and ecologist. SUDs are incorporated in the drainage design, with an attenuation tank for the adopted streets and permeable paving to the private driveways.
