The Vincent, Bristol
This is a new later living community in the leafy Redland area of Bristol. It is at the top of the hill, near The Downs, with views over the city. Queen Victoria House, a listed Victorian mansion, was restored and converted to 25 apartments, with a further 40 apartments in a new build extension. The architecture is set within a large informal garden with many mature trees. The communal realm, with pool, gym, other wellbeing facilities and restaurant, opens out into the gardens wherever possible.
The focus of the gardens is a large central lawn and Grade II listed obelisk, with a series of terraces down from the original house. This semi-formal core blends into an enhanced arboretum, designed as a picturesque landscape. The paths offer residents a variety of sunny and shaded walks, a lily pool, hidden glades and surprising views.
