Lyndhurst Park, New Forest
This later living community is perfectly placed on the edge of Lyndhurst village, right next to the open landscape of the New Forest. The development will replace a derelict hotel which occupies the site of Glashayes, the home of Admiral Arthur Phillips, the founder of Sydney. It is overlooked by ‘Boltons Bench’, a shapely knoll capped with ancient yew. This captivating landmark is the gateway to the New Forest. Alice Liddell, the inspiration for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, lived most of her life in Lyndhurst.
The proposed buildings will be inserted sensitively between the many mature trees, being hardly visible from the New Forest. The apartments are set within in a wooded communal garden, enclosed with evergreen foliage. The road frontage has meadow verges leading to the entrance courtyard garden, the heart of the community where residents can meet and relax.
