Embassy Gardens, Nine Elms
Embassy Gardens is a mixed use development at the heart of the Battersea and Nine Elms opportunity area, providing a proper urban setting for the new US Embassy. The landscape and public realm strategy aims to create a variety of distinct residential areas that connect and interact with the new Nine Elms Linear Park and the revitalised Nine Elms Lane and Thames waterfront. Our ambition was to create an active, green, distinctive, playful, people focused environment with historical connections to past uses. Themes of water from the old mill pond, energy from the gas works and tidal mills, and food production linked to the agrarian fields and the New Covent Garden Market will influence activity zones and set a flavour for planting and material use throughout the park’s length and infiltrate neighbourhood streets.
