Barbers Rd & Legacy Wharf Pudding Mill

This is one of several substantial developments that will together transform the Pudding Mill area from a run down post industrial scene into a thriving mixed part of the city. The new public realm will be designed in collaboration with immediate neighbours at Vulcan Wharf and PDZ8, so helping to realise LLDC’s overarching vision for the Lower Lea Valley. It will be characterised by the many waterways, a green active travel network, great connections to public transport and close proximity to QE Olympic Park.

The public realm focus is City Mill Square, a new neighbourhood space with play area, green spaces and multifunctional space for markets and performance among other things. An Urban Greening Factor of 0.42 demonstrates a commitment to environmentally sustainable design, including a well developed SUDS scheme, biodiverse planting, architectural greening and low carbon materiality. There is strong support for the landscape proposals from LLDC, GLA and the QRP panel.
