66 Shoe Lane, City of London

This unusual, small space is surrounded by tall buildings in the City of London. The project will transform it into a verdent oasis, to be enjoyed by people who work here and providing a surprise encounter for people walking through The City. It will enrich the wider green movement network that continues to evolve in this historically fascinating part of London.

The adjacent well established F&B will spill out into the square, creating a busy, convivial atmosphere during the working day and also after hours. This is balanced with plenty of public realm seating, planting and managed multifunctional space, with capacity for programmed activity such pop up stalls or small scale performance. The materiality is based around hardwood and natural stone, such as porphyry river pebbles. This will combine with the lush foliage and lighting to create a magical atmosphere, throughout the days and over the seasons.
