Al Ula, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
AlUla; a large, mostly rural, region in the northwest Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, containing remarkable heritage dating back more than 8,000 years including the Hegra UNESCO World Heritage Site. The goal of the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) was to reaffirm AlUla as one of the country’s and region’s most important archaeological and cultural destinations, while preparing to welcome visitors from around the world. As one of the landscape architect’s practices on the project, our focus was on the landscape character of Al Jadidah town. Camlins goal was to set out a design vision for each of the main streets that ran through the town to create a high-quality public realm which maintained the heritage and culture of the site. We supported the Allies & Morrison landscape team and worked closely with other design team members including Buro Happold Engineers to create a coordinated streetscape vision for Al Jadidah town.
