Dan Joseph

Trainee Landscape Architect

Dan, a recent addition to the Camlins team, brings a unique blend of optimism and curiosity to his role as an aspiring Landscape Architect. A student from the University of Sheffield on his placement year, Dan joined the firm after a meticulous search that was as much about culture fit as it was about professional growth. Intrigued by Camlins’ distinct ethos reflected on its website and personnel bios, he felt drawn to the opportunity the practice offered for multidisciplinary exposure.

Despite his short experience—just a few months at Camlins and a couple of weeks each at Horter’s Collective and Howells Architects—Dan’s diverse educational background offers him a distinct lens on landscape architecture. He studied Art, Sociology and History for his A-levels, a combination he believes equips him to design more people-centric and context-sensitive spaces. Prior to entering the academic world, he worked in a church and volunteered at a pet charity shop, roles that ingrained in him a service-oriented mindset.

Dan is currently navigating his way through the professional realm, keen to experience a wide range of projects before choosing a specialisation. He has assisted in several projects, from public realm designs to urban masterplans, honing technical and interpersonal skills. His passion lies at the intersection of bustling public spaces and serene natural environments.

Outside work, Dan is an avid footballer and an active Christian. He values solitude in nature, a passion rooted in his childhood escapades in a nearby nature reserve. Described as peaceful, thoughtful, and positive, Dan’s surprising trivia is his current admiration for footballer Martin Odegaard. Dan believes in the alignment of destiny and purpose, attributing his presence at Camlins to a divine plan for his personal and professional development.
