Harry Smart
Landscape Architect
Harry joined Camlins in November 2021, bringing with him a unique blend of hands-on experience and academic expertise. Holding a BA in Landscape Architecture, Harry was drawn to Camlins by the firm’s diverse project portfolio. His educational journey began with RHS Level 2 & 3 in Horticulture at Reaseheath College, followed by a BA and Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture from Birmingham City University.
Before stepping into the professional world, Harry gained invaluable experience as a horticultural instructor at a special educational college. Leading a small team of students, he managed various landscape and gardening projects. This role ignited his love for plants and landscape design, laying the foundation for his specialisation in planting schemes and specifications.
As an Assistant Landscape Architect at Camlins, Harry relishes the chance to work on a wide range of projects. His passion lies in developing planting plans. His recent work on Velindre Cancer Centre and University College Oxford have demonstrated his keen eye for local flora and understanding of ecological systems. His skills in planting and ecology make him an integral part of the Camlins team.
On a personal note, Harry is an avid vinyl collector and music enthusiast. He draws inspiration from the landscapes of Fairbourne, Barmouth and the Mawddach Estuary—places that have sentimental value to him since childhood and have influenced his Master’s research. Harry describes himself as active, fun and exciting, qualities that he brings to every project. Whether it’s his professional development or his personal interests, Harry is someone who fully immerses himself in what he loves.
