Camlins is based in Shrewsbury, a beautiful historic town set in the Shropshire Hills, near to the Welsh border. Shrewsbury is well connected by train with the Midlands, London and the rest of Britain. We work in all parts of UK, Ireland and beyond.
We have a clear responsibilities and review structure, helping everyone to plan individual progress. All staff are supported in pursuing professional goals, including a CPD programme and out-of-office visits.
Our commissions range in scale from large masterplans and urban parks, through to roof terraces and private gardens. We enjoy all work stages, from project inception through planning, detailed design, tender, implementation on site to completion. Furthermore, we work with some of the very best architects, engineers, ecologists and other professions currently in practice, making our working lives fascinating, instructive and enjoyable.

Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and talented individual to join our team. As a landscape architect in our team, you will be responsible for working on a diverse range of projects spanning all the RIBA stages, including developing communicative design information such as sketches, plans and reports for client and design team presentations, representing the practice at public consultation events, coordination and communication with wider design teams and producing detailed CAD based information for tender and construction.
Responsibilities
- Creation of communicative information such as reports, sketches, diagrams and plans to help illustrate the landscape proposals
- Production of CAD based technical information
- Producing clear and concise emails
- Forward facing role where you will need to travel and communicate with the public at consultation events, engage in discussion with wider design team members (architects etc.) in workshops and DTMs, assist in communication with client team members
- Ability to organise and lead design workshops when required
- Working collaboratively with other staff within the office and within multi-disciplinary design teams
- Assist with junior staff training (imparting knowledge)
- Assisting the team with future work creation, by helping with tenders, bids and competitions
- Research and develop new details and technical information and share with the team to help with continuous office progression
- Responsible for tracking own time and managing budgets on projects
- Responsibility for sharing information outside of the practice e.g. uploading to relevant file share sites
- Responsibility for filing outgoing and incoming information for own projects
- Working with in the current office systems for continuity across the office and outlining ways that we can improve
- Assist with ongoing CPD activities
Qualifications and Skills
- 2+ years of industry experience
- Being chartered is a benefit but not essential (as a practice we like to help our team reach their goals and can assist with the Pathway to Chartership process)
- Flare and design creativity, to bring innovative points of view to the team and our clients
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Fluency with 2D CAD software is essential, preferably in Vectorworks, but other experiences would be considered
- Understanding of our profession’s responsibility towards sustainability and biodiversity
- Fluent in InDesign
- Preference for fluency in Photoshop
- Experience of managing junior staff
- Previous experience with industry standard file sharing sites is preferable e.g. Aconex, Trimble, A360
- Familiarity with SketchUp and / or 3D Vectorworks is beneficial
- Experience working in multi-disciplinary design teams
